Hearing Aids for the Hearing Impaired in Beckley, WV
Based on the results of evaluation, our audiologists are able to explain the cause, degree, and treatment options available to assist you. We recommend a variety of hearing aids based on your diagnosis, budget, and aesthetic concerns. We offer ALL types and brands of hearing aids for the hearing impaired to meet the needs of all of our patients.
Behind-the-Ear: This large, powerful type of hearing aid sits behind your ear and amplifies sound as it passes down a tube into a custom-fitted piece that sits inside of your ear. It is a reliable and durable unit that is suitable for all degrees of hearing loss and easily fits into most budgets.
Over-the-Ear: This discrete yet powerful hearing aid is similar in design to the Behind-the-Ear style, yet offers the advantages of being slimmer, less noticeable, and it does not require custom fitting. This small unit sits behind the ear and has a clear narrow tube that connects to a small earbud inside the ear canal. It can be programmed and fit in just one visit and is one of our most popular options.
In-the-Ear: These units are easy to insert and regulate volume control. They are suitable for mild to severe hearing loss. They are custom designed to fit inside of the ear comfortably.
In-the-Canal: Smaller than In-the-Ear units, these custom units sit within the ear canal and are barely visible. They offer the advantage of operating well for our patients who talk on the phone. However, they may not be an option for those with small ears.
Completely-in-Canal: These devices utilize advanced micro-technology to enable them to sit deep within the ear canal. Their small size makes them nearly invisible and they can be programmed to operate automatically or with push-button control settings. This option is popular with our patients who have cosmetic concerns. Please note that a steady hand is required to place this device in the ear properly.
Invisible-in-Canal: These units are completely invisible and undetectable. They sit deep within the ear canal to enable a natural sense of hearing with quick, accurate, high-definition sound quality, and clear hearing even in noisy situations. The unit is custom sculpted to fit your ear canal and removed daily.
Receiver-in-Canal/Open-Ear: These hearing aids were designed to reduce or eliminate echoes and the “occlusion effect” (the sensation that the ear canal is blocked). These units are extremely durable, hardly noticeable, water resistant, and offer the widest programming options for most degrees of hearing loss.
